Hello,

Back from Croatia with some pictures, but unfortunately not too many of them. The conditions were not good for macro photography, warm, wet, windy, dryness everywhere, not too much green terrain around, only on the trees. During first one and a half of the week i did not take a single shot, but was able to do so during last few days before departure. This beautiful butterfly (Limentis reducta) was my dream from the very first day of staying there and finally i had a chance to make some pictures of it. Enjoy the first one.

I like what I see: Sharpness, Colours and Image composition are very well done. At the lower edge, there is a bit too
little place and I would have retouched the cut structure. But nevertheless it is a very beautiful picture and I like it very much.

i'm glad that in the end you had the chance to take some pictures in good conditions -
there's nothing more annoying than spending (limited) time in a promising, remote landscape,
having all the possible subjects "in reach", but not being able to take good shots because
of the darn weather conditions... (happened to me in Morocco this year)

This shot is really crisp, it shows a lot of details and all of the butterfly's body is
in focus where it should be - with a third of a second exposure time, still no
visible motion blur - very well done!

The background is nicely blurred, but still has some texture in it so it doesn't appear
overly dull or flat - just the way i like it.

The almost classic "a little more space around the subject" might make the composition
more gentle. In this case i'd just say: fully use the allowed 1200px (with NO crop!) -
your version has 1024px, that might just make the difference...

In English? Why not. Some may not be able to understand all of it - many others
will - but one thing that everyone will understand is: you took the time to look
at that picture, and you took the time to think about it and write down what you
see/feel/think.

first of all... what a beautiful butterfly you've found and lastly you could get him on your chip in a perfect way.

I like the colors and the good shown details on the wings and at the eye... well done... also the background is nice soft... even with aperture 11.

The bodom of the pic... like the others have written also... for me it should have more room... so maybe next time you can try to hold the imaging scale a bit smaller...

beside that it is a fantastic photo...

Believe me, I look at pictures presented on the forum every single day, when someting interests me, i usually write a comment. Dont get me wrong - there are tons of pictures presented everyday on many forums, some are better, some are worse, you have to find 'pearls' among tons of stuff people push to Internet. The pictures on the forum here are very natural, but sometimes the photographer pays some price for the naturalness - the sharpness, the colors and overall quality make the picture an average for most cases, so its really hard to comment everything in the manner like "do something that way, and some other thing other way". I dont have right to learn people how to make a good photo, im still learning my own way of photographing macro, its neverending lesson. My way to do so is: focus on the sharpness, composition and loight, avoid the mid-day light, dont use flashlight, and first of all - have patience and strenght to wake up early in the morning when the light seems to be the best to get the best results. If any has the patience and is able to start early, when the sun is below the horizon - the results may have chance to be good
